Joan Villadelprat, the teammanager of the Benetton team has stated that Jos Verstappen in effectively now the testdriver of the team. "The contract is not yet done, but we will use him as much as possible because we know him well and he does a good job. But we are still looking to see if we can sort out a deal for him", Villadelprat stated.

Tyrrell will use a revised Ford Cosworth engine from the Canadian Grand Prix onwards. Ricardo Rosset tested the "Phase 10" update last week. The upgraded unit features an increased rev limit, an improved power curve and a lower centre of gravity. Rosset experienced better cornering speeds due to the improved weight transfer. The "Phase 10" which will be more expensive for the Cosworth customers will only be used by Tyrrell and not by Ford's other customer team Minardi.
