In the first free Saturday practice session the McLaren's were unbeatable. On this fast circuit it was Mika Hakkinen who was the fastest, followed by teammate David Coulthard. Fisichella also did well on a third place. The top 6 was completed by Michael Schumacher, Damon Hill and Ralf Schumacher.
