The three day test session with Stewart ...

Published on 19 June 1998 by Verstappen Info Page

The three day test session with Stewart that was conducted by Jos Verstappen and Rubens Barrichello at the circuit of Magny-Cours in France has just been concluded. Jos is satisfied with the way things went during the test session. Today Jos was able to do 43 laps and managed a fastest time of 1:19.6. Rubens Barrichello has done 45 laps and clocked a fastest time of 1:18.6.

Unfortunately Jos could start his test halfway during the morning because he needed a new wing for his car. The wing had to come from Great-Britain and so could only start his test at half past ten. Normally best times can be set during the morning because of the cool air.

During the test the Stewart team worked in a very professional way and cooperated very well with Jos. There have little technical difficulties during the whole of the test session. Jos' position in the car couldn't be optimised completely. To make his seat completely to Jos' liking some changes will have to be made at the Stewart factory.

Stewart will now evaluate the results of the test session and tomorrow at the latest the team will announce wether they want to make use of Jos' services. All in all this seems like a very good reason to drop by at the fanclub spectacle days at the kartcentre of Jos Verstappen in Echt, The Netherlands. Jos will be there to inform you first hand about the way things will go. Of course we will keep you informed as well through the site.
