The second part of today's free practice showed the same drivers in the top six, however on different positions. Mika Häkkinen was in 1:43.946, 0.192 sec faster then his team mate David Coulthard. Last year it was Ralf Schumacher who was surprising fast in the Jordan, this year Damon Hill was in front on third spot, followed by Alesi, Michael Schumacher and Eddy Irvine.

After technical problems, Jos started his attempts half way the second session. Although he was able to improve his time with more then 2.5 sec, he did climb only one position in 1:47.229. After the session, Jos declared that he had lots of difficulties with the grip of the car. The team tried several thing like different wing setups, but unfortunally without results.
