In the second part of the Saturday free practice most drivers were able to improve their time, including David Coulthard. He took the first position of Mika Hakkinen with 1:11,655.

The top six was completed by Mika Hakkinen, Eddie Irvine, Heinz-Harald Frentzen, Michael Schumacher and Jean Alesi.

Unfortunately Jos Verstappen was overtaken by Rubens Barrichello, who lodge himself a few positions before Jos with 1:14,000. After half an hour Jos came into the pits with a halfbroken rear wing and was his practice over. The Stewart drivers ended the Saturday free practice on the 16th and 19th place.
