FIAT president Gianni Agnelli stated that Michael Schumacher will stay with Ferrari at least until the end of 1999. With this the speculations of the German moving to McLaren Mercedes come to an end. Ferrari hopes to extend Schumacher's contract until the end of 2001. Also Eddie Irvine is likely to stay with the Italian team. Ferrari is reported to be happy with the Irishman who seems to be happy in his supporting role to Schumacher.

Besides Stewart also Arrows will have a new engine for the British Grand Prix. The new Arrows powerplant was tested and found OK last week by Salo and Diniz. Furthermore Arrows hopes to field a long wheel base chassis within the next few weeks. The parts are currently being developped in the factory and they will be tested soon.
