Because Rolls Royce has been sold to VAG (Volkswagen Audi Group) Ford now has a minor problem. Rolls Royce owns Vickers, which in turn has a stake in Cosworth. Cosworth builds Formula 1 engines together with Ford which makes the circle round. Ford is now negotiating with VAG to buy Cosworth from VAG to solve the problem.

Benetton Playlife has announced that it will do without test driver for the rest of the season. This has been decided by technical director Pat Symonds. Benetton deplores the fact that Jos Verstappen is no longer available for the team.

Craig Pollock, Jacques Villeneuve's manager and one of the founders of British American Racing (BAR) which has bought Tyrrell, may find himself in trouble over the renaming of the team. Reynard, the succesful Indy-car chassis builder, likes to see it's name back in the team name. The FIA in turn wants to keep the name Tyrrell in Formula 1 for historical reasons.
