The warm-up for the Grand Prix of ...

The warm-up for the Grand Prix of Belgium was driven on a very wet track under very bad circumstances, rain and fog predominated in Spa.

After 10 minutes the first laptimes were set by 11 drivers. Michael Schumacher was definately the fastest one with 3:54,987, followed by Jos Verstappen with 4:29,844.

Heinz-Harald Frentzen was the first one to drive a more realistic laptime with 2:14,319.He was immediately followed by numerous drivers, of which Eddie Irvine was the fastest one with 2:11,416.

Both Ferrari's showed McLaren that they had the better wet set-up. The only pilot who was able to keep up with them seemed to be Giancarlo Fisichella in his Benetton, but at the end of the warm-up Mika Hakkinen showed that he also can drive in the wet well and nested himself in the top three.

Rubens Barrichello had a good performance in the Stewart and ended on the ninth position with 2:11,374. Jos Verstappen was less fortunate with a fastest laptime of 2:17,733, which positioned him on the 20th place.
