The first free practicesession for the Grand ...

The first free practicesession for the Grand Prix of Hungaria at the Hungaroring was disturbed by heavy rain. Therefor the results were very much depending on the moment when drivers were on the track and which type of tyres they used. Only at the end of the session, rain stopped, but the track never dried up.
The fastest times therefor were set by those drivers who completed their laps in the last 5 minutes of the session. It were - they almost become an unseperatable trio - Hakkinen, Coulthard and M. Schumacher who set the three fastest laps. Jos Verstappen, who started driving when the session was half way, set the 18th time. Teammate Barrichello only drove in the beginning of the session when it rained very heavily and therefor made only the 21th position.
