During the free practice this morning, both Mclaren's were the fastest on the Hockenheim circuit. In both sessions David Coulthard was ahead of his team-mate Mika Häkkinen. During the first session, Jos was unable to improve his 19th position but in the second session he climbed up to the 16th place just behind Rubens Barrichello who drove to the 15th place. Damon Hill seems to have found his way back and drove himself to a 4th position in both sessions. Olivier Panis was unable to set a laptime after he crashed his car. Also Ricardo Rosset demolished his car when he visited the gravel.
