The Ferrari team is testing at the Mugello circuit to get ready for the penultimate Luxembourg Grand Prix at the Nurburgring. Yesterday Eddie Irvine as well as Michael Schumacher have tested. After 107 laps Eddie set the best time of the day, 1:27.553. Schumacher suffered some gearbox problems and ended his tests after 31 laps around noon. He still set a record time of 1:27.586. Today Irvine continued at Mugello while Schumacher went on testing at Fiorano.

The other teams were testing at Magny-Cours, where David Coulthard set the best time, 1:17.08, of the day while testing different sets of Bridgestone tyres. Juan Pablo Montoya was second with 1:17.62 in his Williams and Pedro de la Rosa was third with a time of 1:18.11. French F3000 driver Stephane Sarazin impressed Prost when he proved to be faster with 1:18.78 than regular driver Jarno Trulli who set a time of 1:18.94.
