Jacques Villeneuve was the first Formula 1 driver to test the new circuit of Zhuhai in China. In a Renault Spider Sport the Canadian drove only three laps and stated that the circuit was wide enough and that there are lots of outbraking possibilities. The only thing that was missing was a high speed corner.
While Villeneuve is working on next season, the rest of formula 1 is concentrating on the last grand prix for this season in Japan. Bridgstone stated that they will do everything possible for Mika Häkkinen to become world champion, and to gain the contructors title. Also a victory at their home grand prix is of great importance. To increase the pressure at McLaren, Michael Schumacher stated that he feels confident for the last grand prix. During the recent tests Ferrari made great progress on several fields. Fortunately the battle has to be won on the circuit in stead via the press.
Following the great progress of Stewart, the Prost team has also made great progression. At Suzuka, they will be using a new chassis AP01B which is equipped with a new Peugeot V10 engine and a new gear box. This in between version is used to gain information concerning the reliability for next year's car (the AP02).
