By the end of this year Ford will have to make clear how they plan to operate in Formula 1 in the next years. Stewart now has an exclusive works deal with Ford for five years and have a two-year notice in their contract. Ford is not satisfied with the way things are going up until now. Recent rumours even suggested that the American company might want to buy a whole team. Other rumours suggested that Ford wanted to introduce the brand name Jaguar in Formula 1. Martin Whitaker, European director of Ford Motorsport commented that Ford remains "committed to Stewart. It is important, however, that it be much more evident what Ford is doing in F1. We have to be successful."
