Today Bernie Ecclestone and Speedway President Tony George have confirmed that an American Grand Prix will be staged in 2000 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The exact date has yet to be confirmed. Ecclestone said: "I know the speedway will look after us and see that we have a home for Formula One for years to come." Within the oval a new 2.53 mile long circuit will be build together with a new pit complex. The last American Grand Prix was staged in 1991 in Phoenix, Arizona. The race was won by Ayrton Senna in a McLaren Honda.
