During the first day of winter testing on the circuit of Barcelona today Luca Badoer was fastest in his Ferrari with a time of 1:24.22. He outpaced David Coulthard by a hundredth of a second (1:24.23). Damon Hill was third fastest in an impressive 1:24.44. Nick Heidfeld was fourth fastest in a McLaren, Mika Salo was fifth and Pedro Diniz was sixth fastest. Alessandro Zanardi disappointed in the Williams with only the ninth time.
