Reliability of great importance

Published on 18 February 1999 by John ter Meer

In front of the start of coming season, the teams are preparing their cars to be in good condition. Due to the fast developments in Formula 1, it is impossible for a team to use the same car for two seasons. All team presentations stated that the teams have high goals for coming season and they have found great improvements in their new cars. Due to the technical changes the reliability is not always optimal during the start. Rumours stated that McLaren had plans to start this season with the '98 cars, however due to the intensive testing it was clear that their new car is ready to race. Ferrari also does it's best to improve reliability. Yesterday Michael Schumacher completed a race distance on the circuit of Mugello. The teams that still are having reliability problems are Stewart, Arrows and BA Racing, so we remain curious to see which teams will be able to finish during the first Grand Prix.
