Hill was not able yet to become world champion. After a good start he dropped back later on in the race, and during his last pit stop, Villeneuve took over the leading position. Villeneuve first, Hill second, and Schumacher third.

Jos starting on position 16 made a good start to position 15. However in lap 47 his engine blew up again, the second this weekend. Jos was not very pleased with it which we can imagine. More details will follow. See Portugal Grand Prix Results for complete results
