They only competed in 1 race since their last withdrawal from Formula 1 in 1993 and now the English based Mastercard-Lola team from Huntingdon withdraws again. The team had projected a budget of 35 million dollars.

MasterCard had worked out a unique sponsoring program for Lola which they called 'reciprocal marketing' One could join a club in return for which you could get access to races for example. From the start MasterCard had indicated that the costs of sponsorship would be paid from profits made out of this club. A spokesman of the team declared that Lola had decided to withdraw from the World Championship as no predictions could be made about the amount of money available to the team for the remainder of the season.

Ferrari has decided not to use the new engine that is now available until the first Grand Prix in Europe (Imola). With the old engine Schumacher finished second in Australia.
