Published on 27 February 2020 by Mike Motilall

Alexander Albon rounded up the fifth day of testing today in Barcelona with 61 laps to his name. This brings Aston Martin Red Bull Racing’s total today to 92 laps. The Thai-British racing driver’s fastest lap time was a 1:18.393, driven on the C2-tyres. In the morning session, Sebastian Vettel topped the board on the penultimate day of testing with a 1:16.841 on the C5's. Williams was the most productive. The Grove based team, with Nicholas Latife behind the wheel, lapped the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya track no less than 160 times.

It’s 14:00 hours when the teams get ready to continue with their test schedule. Pierre Gasly is the first on the asphalt in the AlphaTauri. A little under forty-five minutes, Alexander Albon’s RB16 is also out on track, he was passed the helm by Max Verstappen after lunch.

During the first part of the session, no major events occur. Everyone is busy doing their own thing until Lewis Hamilton, around half past three, suddenly halts at Turn seven. The Briton has, by then, done fourteen laps. That amount would stay the same as the Mercedes would remain the entire day in the pit box.

The remainder of the afternoon goes by without a hitch. No less than six teams make it to the 100-lap mark and most of the drivers set about doing some practice pit stops in the closing stages of the session. Having lapped the Spanish track 61 times, Alexander Albon brings Red Bull total to 92 laps today.

Max Verstappen will take the RB16 once more for a spin during the afternoon session tomorrow, with which he will conclude the Winter testing for his team.
