Takagi is still surprising the F1 sport. Yesterday he was fastest during tests at Silverstone, in front of for instance both Benettons who are testing a longer chassis. In Jerez, David Coulthard was fastest, followed by Villeneuve and Häkkinen. In the mean time, Ferreri is testing this whole week on their private circuit. Earlier this week, Irvine tested several rain tyres during the morning sessions, after the circuit was made artificially wet. It looks as if the Ferrari team is trying to break their amount of laps record. Earlier this week, Irivine completed a total of 119 laps within one day, while Schumacher yesterday drove a total of 168 laps! It showed again the reliability of the car since the team did not suffer any technical problems.
Max Mosley stated that there would be no extra grand prixs this year. In front of this year's last grand prix in Japan, there is a gap of 5 weeks without any race. However, most teams have declared that they have used their budget for this year with the coming Grand Prix and therefore they don't prefer an extra race. This looks to be welcomed by McLaren, who did not protest against the present agenda. However it looks as if Ferrari prefers an extra grand prix due to the on going lobby for an extra race this year in Mugello (Italy).
