Published on 27 September 1998 by Verstappen Info Page

Mika Hakkinen has won the Grand Prix of Luxembourg en enlarged his chances for the world tittle. Even tough he had to start from the second row and had let go the both Ferrari's in the first stage, a good pitstop strategy was the basic for the victory. Despite the help of Eddy Irvine, Michael Schumacher became only second after a hard battle. David Coulthard who started from fifth position became third. Jos made a good start again and had to fight the whole race with Mika Salo. After a solid race, Jos became 13th and he was constantly faster than teammate Barrichello.

Jos told us after the race, "I have to say that it went reasonably well and I was quite positive after this morning. We changed to the setup of Rubens Barrichello and sins then, I was constantly quicker than he was. We have been critical to the team the whole weekend , and I have to say that they eventually listened. In the race, I had to fight with Mika Salo so the pitstops were decisive which we won. We have one race to go and I'm confident race in Japan."
